# Verification

> How Open Therapy checks your registration, what happens if it doesn't clear, and what the verified badge means.

Every profile on Open Therapy has had its practitioner's registration checked before going live. Applications that don't clear are not published.

## What's checked

Your registration number against the register held by the body you nominated.

| Body                           | Covers                                                                                |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Ahpra** | Psychology, psychiatry, occupational therapy, and other registered health professions |
| **Speech Pathology Australia** | Speech pathologists |
| **Dietitians Australia**       | Dietitians                                                                            |
| **PACFA** or **ACA** | Counsellors and psychotherapists |

## Listing states

Your profile is either published or it isn't. There's no partial state where clients see some of you.

<Columns cols={2}>

    Invisible everywhere — the directory, search, matching and your booking link. You can still work on
    your profile in the workspace.
  </Card>

## If something doesn't line up

You'll get an email — *"One thing to sort out on your application"* — saying we couldn't confirm your registration as submitted.

<Note>
  Almost always this is a typo or a name that's since changed, not a problem. Update your details from
  the link in the email and it goes back into the queue.
</Note>

If you think we've got it wrong, reply to that email and a person will take another look.

## When you're verified

You'll get a **"You're live on Open Therapy"** email. Three things are worth doing in your first week:

<Steps>
  <Step title="Set your real availability">
    So the times clients see are the times you have. See [Availability](/therapists/availability).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add a short reel">
    Profiles with one get roughly twice the enquiries. See
    [Build your profile](/therapists/build-your-profile#media).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Check your fees and rebates">
    Make sure what's listed is what you charge and what you accept. See
    [Services and pricing](/therapists/services-and-pricing).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## The verified badge

A verified badge on your profile, and the line **"Registration checked by Open Therapy"** in the booking panel.

It tells a client that we've confirmed you're registered to practise. It is not a rating, a ranking signal, or an endorsement of clinical judgement.

## Keeping registration current

Your profile shows your registration and its expiry. Keep it current — an expired registration is grounds for unpublishing a profile.

Your indemnity insurance and Working with Children Check are recorded against your listing in the same place.

## Concerns raised about you

Conduct and clinical care concerns go to [governance@opentherapy.app](mailto:governance@opentherapy.app) and are acknowledged the same business day. Clients can also raise matters directly with Ahpra, independently of Open Therapy — see [Safety and privacy](/safety-and-privacy#reporting-a-concern).
