# Invoices and receipts

> Where to find your session receipts, what's on them, and how to use them for a claim.

Every settled session produces an itemised receipt, ready to claim with.

## Where they are

Open **Billing** in your account. Each line shows what it was for, the date, the therapist, a reference and the amount.

Selecting one opens the full invoice, which has a **Print or save as PDF** button.

## What's on a receipt

| Field       | Notes                                                                          |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Reference | Looks like `OTF-2026-0093`. Quote it when you contact support. |
| Date | When the session took place |
| Therapist | Their name and practice details |
| Description | The service, as named by the therapist |
| Amount      | What you paid                                                                  |
| GST | None — the invoice says *"No GST. Health services of this kind are GST-free."* |
| Status | Due, Processing, Paid or Refunded |

## Statuses

| Status         | Meaning                                                    |
| -------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Due** | Issued, not yet paid |
| **Processing** | Payment is settling. Some methods take longer than a card. |
| **Paid**       | Complete                                                   |
| **Refunded** | Money has gone back to your card, in full or in part |

A partly refunded session — a late cancellation, for example — shows what was kept and what was returned.

## Using a receipt for a claim

The receipt has what Medicare, a private health fund or an NDIS plan manager needs: the practitioner, the service, the date and the amount paid.

See [Rebates and funding](/clients/rebates-and-funding) for how to lodge each one.

<Tip>
  Save the PDF at the time rather than at tax time. It takes ten seconds and saves reconstructing a
  year of sessions later.
</Tip>

## Why the therapist's name is on it

Each therapist is the merchant of record for their own sessions, which is also why their practice name — not Open Therapy — appears on your card statement.

Open Therapy's own fees are invoiced separately to the therapist and never appear on your receipt. See [Fees](/fees).

## A receipt is missing

Receipts appear once the session has settled, which is after it's happened and the therapist has recorded that you attended. If a past session has no receipt after a couple of days, write to [billing@opentherapy.app](mailto:billing@opentherapy.app) with the date and the therapist's name.
