# Groups and programs

> Courses, group therapy, support groups, workshops and webinars — how they run and how to join one.

Not everything works better one to one. Group programs are usually a fraction of the individual fee, and for some kinds of work the group itself is the point.

Browse them at **Groups** in the main navigation.

## The five formats

| Format            | How it runs                                                                                                                   |
| ----------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Course** | A fixed number of sessions building on each other, with the same people each week. You join at the start and finish together. |
| **Group therapy** | Therapist-led and therapeutic. The group is the treatment, not a cheaper way to deliver an individual session. |
| **Workshop** | One sitting, one topic. Nothing to commit to beyond the day. |
| **Support group** | Ongoing, drop-in and facilitated. Come when you need to and stop when you don't. |
| **Webinar** | Free or low-cost information sessions online, usually with questions at the end. |

## Finding one

Search by topic, then filter by format, care type, whether it runs online or in person, price (free, under \$50 a session, \$50–\$100, \$100+), funding accepted, the month it starts, and whether places are still open.

Sort by starting soonest, lowest price, or most places left.

## Cohorts

Programs run in cohorts rather than continuously, so **what you book is a cohort, not the program**. Each cohort shows its start date, its schedule — *"Six Tuesdays from 4 March"* — and either how many places are left or that it's full.

A cohort with three or fewer places left is flagged.

## Joining

<Steps>
  <Step title="Choose an intake">
    Pick the dated cohort that suits you. A full one is still selectable — it becomes a waitlist
    request.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your details">
    Name, email and phone, plus an optional note for the facilitator: access needs, what you're
    hoping to get out of it, or anything you'd rather they knew in advance.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pay">
    Either once, a week before the first session, or per session on the morning of each — the program
    page says which.
  </Step>
</Steps>

You'll get calendar invites, and a video link for every session if it runs online, or the address and arrival notes if it's in person.

## Waitlists

If a cohort is full you can join the waitlist. **Nothing is charged.** If a place opens in that intake it's offered to you first, and you have **48 hours** to take it.

## Withdrawing

**Full refund if you withdraw before the first session.** After the first session, the program's own terms apply — they're on the program page.

## What you'll see on a program page

About the program, who it's for, what happens in a session, the dates and intakes, the facilitators, funding and rebates, and other programs like it.

Some programs are co-facilitated, in which case every facilitator is listed.

## Cost

Group places are usually a fraction of the equivalent individual fee. Open Therapy+ members get **25% off** group programs and courses — see [Membership](/clients/membership).
